Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers passes Pittsburgh great Ben Roethlisberger for fifth on the NFL’s career passing list.

Steelers' Aaron Rodgers passes Pittsburgh great Ben Roethlisberger for fifth on the NFL's career passing list.

Although he is in his first season with the big league team, Aaron Rodgers has already moved to the side of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ most prolific passer.

Rodgers moved alone into fifth all-time in career passing yards, passing Pittsburgh’s all-time leading passer and contemporary Ben Roethlisberger.

Entering Thursday night against fellow career rusher Joe Flacco, Rodgers needed 116 yards to pass Roethlisberger (64,088). He came on in the second quarter when he connected with Jaylen Warren for a 15-yard reception.

After indicating that the 2025 season is likely to be his last, Rodgers is also likely to remain in fifth place when he retires.

He leads the list of active passers, followed closely by the Los Angeles Rams’ Matthew Stafford, who is ninth all-time with 61,493 yards before his Week 7 game in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

If Rodgers were to play past this season, he would potentially catch another familiar name, Brett Favre, in 2026. Favre is fourth with 71,838 yards. Rodgers and Favre were once teammates with the Green Bay Packers.

Earlier this season, Rodgers passed Favre (508) on the career touchdown list.

Regardless of how Rodgers’ career ends, he’s already written a first-ballot Hall of Fame resume.

He added to that with another historic comment on Thursday.
