Sean Payton from Broncos explains Devaughn Vele Trade for saints as a case in the WR room

When Denver Broncos aims to build on running last season, they have known that such a search would not include all contributions from last season.

On Wednesday, one of these manufacturers saw the island voted when Denver traded the recipient Devaughn Vele to New Orleans for Val in the fourth round 2026 and selection of the seventh round 2027.

Given the day to process the transfer and prepare its comments, Coach Sean Payton explained the combination of growth in Vele and the need to narrow the Broncos reception hall led to the contract.

“We were not shopping at all, but teams that need the receivers obviously do a good enough job, they look at the depth of certain teams,” Payton said on Thursday. “So over a three -day season, (manager) George (Paton) and I had received calls from two serious teams and a third, and all coincidence on the same player. … the morning after he sat down and I sat down and said,” No, obviously we appreciate this player. ” The next day it took up, it became more serious.

“[He has] All that we are looking for: discipline, structure, smart, strong, talented. Therefore, this was difficult. Certainly the New Orleans looked. Just talking to (Saints Secretary) Mickey (Loomis), they felt they were missing bigger receivers. They knew we had a number of large recipients. It went like this at the beginning of the week as just a debate. Then two teams came really more than serious about this business.

“It’s a point at some point where you are watching the roster, you are watching your depth and at the end it was something we thought was the best for the club. He was great when we visited with him. He will be a really good player for them.”
