Saints owner Gayle Benson: 'Ridiculous' to consider firing longtime CEO Mickey Loomis.

Despite the Saints’ struggles through the first 10 games of the 2025 season, New Orleans owner Gayle Benson has no plans to move on from general manager Mickey Loomis.

“It might not be what the fans want to hear, but as far as firing Mickey Loomis, it’s ridiculous,” Benson told Jeff Duncan of The Times-Picayune. “(He) does a great job.”

Loomis has been taking heat in New Orleans for several years, but the Saints’ last playoff appearance came in 2020. Criticism has continued with a sluggish start to the campaign. However, when Benson didn’t throw GM out with the bathwater during the review, there was little legitimate expectation that she would take drastic action this year.

“I’m very disappointed, as is everyone, but we’re in rebuilding mode,” Benson said. “Mickey said that from the very beginning of the season. … I understand how the fans feel. I certainly do. And I feel sorry for the fans, but we told everybody at the beginning that it was going to be a tough year and it has been tough.”

Loomis has been with the Saints since 2000, taking over as general manager in 2002. He added executive vice president in 2013.
