Rashid Shaheed plans to stay with Seahawks "long-term" after center trade from Saints

In six games before his season-ending injury in New Orleans last year, Shaheed had 20 catches for 349 yards and three TDs in Kubiak’s offense. He was explosive, catching bombs from Derek Carr as the Saints exploded out of the gates.

“Very happy to be connected with him again,” Shaheed said of his reunion with Kubiak, now Seattle’s offensive coordinator. “He knows me. He knows my strengths and I know his mentality going into games. And you know, it shouldn’t be too hard to get used to him, just find my role in the offense.”

Seattle’s offense, with Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, is better than the one Shaheed shined in last year with Kubiak in New Orleans.

Shaheed averaged 58.2 receiving yards per game and 17.5 receiving yards in 2024.

“I feel like there are a lot of open opportunities (on offense),” Shaheed said. “I would get into big plays and stuff, so I could stretch the field vertically. I feel like I could bring that into this offense. Any kind of explosiveness, I’m here for it.”
