He lost a fumble in the second quarter and then threw an end‑zone pick before halftime, his second interception of the night and sixth of the year. The turnover sparked a Jags touchdown that pushed the score to 28-6 in the third, and the game ended 35-6.
Maye blamed the fumble on center Jared Wilson’s bleeding hand but admitted he must protect the ball better and snap out of the funk that’s plagued him all season.
I think it’s disappointing, he said. We’ve been rolling the wrong way and can’t get out of our own way. I have to look in the mirror and treat this as a turning point. It’s Week 3, yet our offense has been unacceptable for three weeks. I must lead, start with myself, and bring the team back. In my view, his self‑assessment is the only way out.
