Denver Broncos linebacker Dre Greenlaw was suspended one game by the NFL on Monday for unsportsmanlike conduct after Sunday’s 33-32 win over the New York Giants, the league announced.
The NFL said in a statement that Greenlaw “chased after umpire Brad Allen and verbally threatened him as he tried to leave the field.”
Greenlaw will appeal his suspension, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.
Greenlaw will miss Denver’s Week 8 game against the Dallas Cowboys and will be eligible to return to the Broncos’ active roster on Oct. 27.
Sunday was Greenlaw’s first game with the Broncos after missing the first six weeks of the season with a hamstring injury, and he finished with six tackles and one QB hit.
Greenlaw signed a three-year, $31.5 million contract with Denver last offseason after six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
