Pelicans Add Forward Jalon Moore

Pelicans signing Jalon MooreThe Pelicans announce the signing of free‑agent forward Jalon Moore.

The Pelicans announced they’ve inked free‑agent forward Jalon Moore, according to a team release.

Standing 6‑ft‑7, Moore played two years at Georgia Tech (2021‑23) then two seasons with Oklahoma (2023‑25). As a senior in 2024‑25 he posted 15.9 points, 5.8 rebounds in 30.3 minutes over 34 starts, shooting 47.1% from the field, 38.1% from deep and 84.0% from the line.

He was once tipped as a potential second‑rounder in 2025, but an Achilles rupture during a San Antonio workout derailed those hopes and spurred his agent Mike Silverman to demand reforms to the pre‑draft system.

We’re truly heartbroken for Jalon,” Silverman told Jonathan Givony in June 2025. “It’s time to revamp the NBA pre‑draft process. Flying around the country to perform intense competitive workouts exposes players to risk of major injuries. No other pro sports league puts their draft prospects in this position.”

After missing the entire 2024‑25 campaign, New Orleans signed and promptly waived Moore in September 2025 to secure his G‑League rights, eyeing a 2026‑27 role. The 23‑year‑old likely signed an Exhibit 10 deal. For my money, securing his G‑League rights is a savvy move. Such a deal could net up to $91 K if he’s cut before the season and spends 60 days with the Laketown Squadron, the Pelicans’ affiliate.

Moore returned in July, posting 6.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in three Summer League games (19.3 minutes each) for the Pelicans in Las Vegas.

To make room for Moore, the Pelicans waived big man Christian Koloko, bringing the preseason roster back to the 21‑player limit. Will his development boost New Orleans next season?
