Kings’ Cardwell Out Two Weeks with Calf Strain

Calf Strain Shelves Kings' Cardwell For At Least Two WeeksKings center Dylan Cardwell sidelined for at least two weeks with a left calf strain.

Kings center Dylan Cardwell has been diagnosed with a left calf strain and will miss a minimum of two weeks, beat writer Jason Anderson reports.

The team confirmed the injury after an MRI scan, noting Cardwell will be unavailable for the season’s opening games.

Sacramento now lacks depth at the pivot as the Oct. 21 clash with the Clippers approaches. Maxime Raynaud also faces a two‑week absence due to a right patellar subluxation.

Behind starter Domantas Sabonis, Coach will likely lean on Precious Achiuwa, a natural power forward, and versatile two‑way guard Jonathan Mogbo. For my money, Achiuwa offers the quickest fix.

In his rookie year, Cardwell logged 44 outings, posting 5.4 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 20.6 minutes on average. The former Auburn star sat out Saturday’s preseason tilt with the Warriors because of the calf. Will his return shift Sacramento’s early fortunes?
