September 19: Sportando, citing Superbasket, confirms the former Nuggets forward has inked a deal with Italy’s Maxima Roma.
The Nuggets cut Tyson in a February salary dump, sending him to Brooklyn to dodge the luxury tax. The Nets never suited him up, grabbed a future second‑round pick and promptly waived him.
Picked 37th overall in 2023, Tyson never earned a regular role under Michael Malone or David Adelman. In 90 games he logged 2.2 points, 1.4 rebounds in 6.8 minutes, shooting 34.9%. For my money, his limited minutes hid untapped potential.
Last season he appeared in 21 contests, starting twice, and posted 2.2 points and 1.7 rebounds in 7.7 minutes. His peak came with 14 points in 19 minutes during an overtime win over Philadelphia in early January.
Tyson closed the year in Puerto Rico with the Gigantes de Carolina of the BSN, tallying 18.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists across 16 games.
