Cameron Payne, a veteran NBA guard, inked a one‑year deal with Turkey’s Anadolu Efes, the club announced Saturday.
Now 32, Payne headed abroad again after missing another NBA roster spot, having reportedly tried out for the Kings in August.
He spent last season on the Pacers’ training camp list before being cut, then joined Serbia’s KK Partizan, and later signed with Philadelphia in February, only to be released before the playoffs.
Payne appeared in his first 20 games for the Sixers, then dropped out of the rotation, picking up two DNP‑CDs and a hamstring strain. He finished the year averaging 7.4 points, 2.6 assists on .376/.330/.864 shooting in 17.0 minutes per contest. The concern here is whether he’ll stay healthy.
The 2015 first‑rounder has also suited up for Oklahoma City, Chicago, Cleveland, Phoenix, Milwaukee and New York, tallying 499 regular‑season games (72 starts) with 7.7 points and 3.2 assists in 17.5 minutes each. Will he help Anadolu Efes contend for the Turkish league title?
