Zavier Gozo’s world has shifted dramatically since May.
A day after learning Pochettino omitted him from the 26-man World Cup squad, Gozo played what turned out to be his penultimate game for Real Salt Lake.
Until then he’d never left Utah, catching the World Cup from his mom’s living room.
Less than five months on, he’s now based halfway across the globe, earning Premier League minutes and earning his first senior USMNT cap last week. For my money, his rapid rise shows discomfort is the engine of elite performance.
“Moving from Utah to London is massive,” the understated star said, lounging in shorts, slippers and a crisp white hoodie on a Minneapolis hotel lobby sofa. Ready to see what he’ll achieve next?
