De Ketelaere disclosed that PSG approached him this summer, but Atalanta demanded €50 million for a move, and ultimately the French club opted for Ferran Torres.
De Ketelaere confirms PSG’s summer approach.
He’d been linked with a PSG switch during the transfer window, a deal that never materialised, and now the Belgian reveals details of those negotiations.
In a chat with Belgian outlet La Dernière Heure, he was asked whether Atalanta really set a €50 million price tag.
“Yes, it was roughly that figure,” he confirmed.
“Finding a club ready to spend that sum is tough,” he said. “Premier League sides could have afforded it, yet nothing materialised. I spoke to PSG, but they chose Torres instead.”
He’s content at Atalanta, valuing regular starts after his Milan stint. For my money, his drive to win titles will soon pay off, even though he’s only 25.
So far in 2026‑27 he hasn’t scored, though he logged five goals and seven assists across all competitions last season.
He’s slated to feature when Belgium face Italy in the opening Nations League match of the 2026‑27 campaign at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico on Friday night.
