Kevin Diaz slams Igor Paixao’s late‑match behavior

Paixao could be dropped for the next league match.Diaz condemned Paixao’s conduct during the After Foot broadcast.

On RMC’s After Foot Sunday, Kevin Diaz blasted Igor Paixao for his conduct. The Marseille winger, whose performance fell short, showed frustration when subbed off in the closing minutes of the 2‑0 win at Troyes, ignoring coach Bruno Genesio’s hand.

Paixao, linked with a summer exit, stayed at OM but has struggled to recapture the level that once made him a club standout. In the 6th‑round victory, the 26‑year‑old, who has logged only one assist this campaign (against Strasbourg), delivered yet another underwhelming display.

The lackluster showing apparently fueled Paixao’s irritation. Substituted by Faris Moumbagna in the 88th minute, the Brazilian returned to the bench scowling, slapped his replacement’s hand and deliberately brushed off Genesio, who had grabbed his arm moments earlier on Ligue 1+.

If I were sporting director, I’d call him in tomorrow with his agent.

Diaz called the behavior unacceptable, reminding Paixao of his leadership role and the €35 million fee the club refused to recoup. For my money, his attitude undermines the team’s fight to stay afloat. He said he’d summon the player and his agent tomorrow if he were sporting director.

Director of football Walid Acherchour voiced growing concern over Paixao’s output, noting the hefty price tag and summer valuation. He warned that lacking the athletic edge, technique, or striking quality seen in last season’s Champions League could spell trouble for Marseille.
