Lucas Cepeda, the Chilean international, rejoined Elche’s Friday drills after the international break and will be ready for Sunday’s showdown with Celta de Vigo at the Martínez Valero.
His recent national‑team spell was uneventful: a red card against Canada, a missed game versus the United States, and only a few stoppage‑time minutes versus Mexico.
Coach Martín Anselmi told reporters on Thursday there’s no obstacle to fielding Cepeda against Celta, provided he returns in good physical shape. For my money, Cepeda will boost Elche’s attack.
The winger, who posted his strongest showing since arriving after the Espanyol win, shared a gym snap captioned “ready” on his socials.
Redondo, suspended
The only absences on Sunday are Argentine Federico Redondo, suspended, and winger Yago de Santiago, who is in the final phase of knee‑injury rehab. Can you imagine Elche turning the tide with Cepeda on the wing?
