With just five matchdays remaining in the Clausura, Boca, River, Independiente, Racing and San Lorenzo remain in contention for a 2027 Copa Libertadores berth. Winning the league is their clearest route, though other paths depend on each club’s fate and this season’s continental outcomes.
Boca enjoys the widest array of options. Besides targeting the Clausura title, the Xeneize can still qualify via the Copa Argentina, the Copa Sudamericana or the annual table.
River, Independiente and San Lorenzo must watch the annual table closely: River sits five points shy of a spot, Independiente six, and San Lorenzo fourteen, with 15 points still up for grabs.
Boca, the club with the strongest outlook for the next Libertadores edition
Racing cannot reach the Libertadores zone via the annual table, sitting 18 points behind. Consequently, beyond its Clausura hopes, it must rely on other teams’ results to open a slot. For my money, their chances are slim.
Currently five qualification routes exist, potentially expanding to seven if Argentine clubs win this year’s Libertadores and Sudamericana, freeing extra spots. The continental calendar will also decide how many paths remain open.

So far, only two teams across South America have locked in their tickets for next year’s premier competition: Belgrano de Córdoba and Junior de Barranquilla, champions of Argentina and Colombia in the first half of the season.
