How does Universitario women’s team arrive at the clash with Independiente del Valle?
Universitario’s women’s side aims to go deep in the 2026 Libertadores and bring joy to their supporters. Despite bolstering the squad with stars like Alessia García, Mia Shalit and Lesly Olivares, the ‘Leonas’ fell 1‑0 to Palmeiras in their debut.
Universitario loses 1‑0 to Palmeiras, complicating Libertadores hopes.
Goalkeeper Mia Shalit shone with eight saves, keeping the scoreline tight. In my view, Shalit’s performance gives the team a real chance. Now the team must face Independiente del Valle, who drew 1‑1 with Belgrano in their opener, and must secure a win to stay alive.
