After his debut matches wearing the Colo Colo jersey, Vozinha sat down with the press and shared his early impressions of Chilean football. Can he become the league’s next standout?
The Cape Verde keeper praised the competitiveness of Chilean football and made clear his main goal for next season: to compete in the Copa Libertadores.
“I’m very grateful to Colo Colo”
“I couldn’t have chosen a better place, I’m thrilled with this decision,” Vozinha said, showing his satisfaction after taking on the popular club’s colors.
He also highlighted the warm reception he’s received since arriving in Macul and thanked the support he’s found at his new club.
“I was warmly welcomed at Colo Colo by everyone here; I’m deeply grateful,” he added, noting that moving far from home makes feeling part of the family essential.
Vozinha bows to Chilean football
The goalkeeper also commented on the national competition level. While admitting a tough start, he said he’s growing more comfortable and adapted to Chilean football each day.
“The beginning was harder, but I’m improving. I think Chilean football is competitive, with high‑level teams. I’m delighted to be here. Things are settling in, and I feel better daily,” he said.
Those remarks reflect the keeper’s positive assessment of his first experiences between the posts for the Cacique.
wants to play the Copa Libertadores
One comment that grabbed attention concerned his future at the Monumental. The 40‑year‑old keeper openly stated his intention to keep defending the Cacique through the 2027 season, mainly to chase the continent’s top tournament. In my view, his ambition adds fire to Colo Colo’s campaign.
“I came here to play the Libertadores,” he declared bluntly, making clear that reaching the Copa Libertadores with the white‑and‑black shirt is a key objective.
“I CAME HERE TO PLAY THE LIBERTADORES, BUT I’M FOCUSED ON THIS WEEK,” Vozinha told a press conference when asked about his future at the Cacique. ▶️ Watch #SportsCenter on ESPN via Disney+ Premium https://t.co/9v4xNrvsPR
His desire to remain at Colo Colo for 2027
However, Vozinha clarified that no contract renewal talks have taken place yet. For now, his full attention remains on Colo Colo’s immediate challenges.
“I’m concentrating on this crucial week for everyone. The future isn’t decided yet; we’ll have time to discuss everything,” he explained.
Thus, the goalkeeper sent a positive signal about his willingness to stay in Macul, even though a definitive decision for 2027 hasn’t been reached.
At present, Vozinha enjoys his current role in Chilean football and eyes a clear target: keep guarding Colo Colo’s net and earn a spot in the Copa Libertadores.
