Frank Warren says Fury and Joshua will each pocket more than any British boxer has ever earned for a single fight. Could this cash boost fuel an unforgettable showdown?
Thursday finally sealed the all‑British heavyweight clash, naming Cardiff’s Principality Stadium as the battleground on Dec. 11.
Ring Magazine reports the WBA world title will be at stake, offering both men a shot at a third world crown.
Even after contracts were signed, the venue row nearly derailed the bout until Cardiff emerged as the compromise.
‘That’s why nobody could walk away – the money is massive. From Tyson’s perspective, he’s desperate for this fight,’ Warren explained.
‘The payout was settled long ago. The snag was mismatched contracts listing two different venues,’ he added.
‘In the end everyone gave, and the fight is on,’ Warren concluded.
Mike Coppinger of Ring Magazine noted Thursday that the WBA ‘super’ heavyweight belt, vacated by Oleksandr Usyk, will crown the winner.
Murat Gassiev, the current WBA ‘regular’ champion, will be demoted as the ‘super’ title moves onto the British duel.
‘Fury can make it as easy as he wants,’ Warren emphasized.
Although Fury tops the promotional poster, Warren said the order of the ring walk remains undecided.
Traditionally the challenger strides out first, waiting for the champion to follow.
Since neither fighter holds a belt right now, the walk order is just another detail still being hashed out.
Warren defended the Fury‑AJ listing, saying Tyson ranks higher across all bodies and even alphabetically he should lead.
He laughed, ‘We could flip a coin – whoever wins, wins.’
‘As long as they’re in the ring when the bell rings, that’s what counts,’ he stressed.
‘I’d put Tyson second because his rankings top the list,’ Warren said.
Johnny Nelson weighs in on Fury vs Joshua.
‘I have a gut feeling the fight ends my way,’ he claimed, adding, ‘In my view, Fury’s superior skill gives him the edge.’
‘Don’t underestimate AJ – he’s a massive puncher who survived trouble in his last bout, but Tyson’s chin is different,’ Warren noted.
‘A good chin means getting up after a knockdown; Tyson’s proven that. He’s tough, confident, and his skill should win,’ Warren asserted.
‘These two have talked about this clash for over a decade; neither will settle for defeat,’ he said.
‘Tyson believes he’s got AJ’s number. I think he’ll win, and likely in spectacular fashion,’ Warren predicted.
