Paderborn went into the match unchanged from the side that beat Hoffenheim 3-1 before the international break, their first Bundesliga win in more than six and a half years.

Stuttgart made four changes, with goalkeeper Dennis Seimen earning his starting Bundesliga debut, having spent last season on loan at Paderborn, while Ramon Hendriks, Atakan Karazor and Jamie Leweling also came into the starting XI.

Stuttgart dominated before halftime

From the first whistle the visitors pressed high, squeezing Paderborn. Deniz Undav forced Nahuel Noll into an early save, then Noll headed away a chance from Ermedin Demirović and later denied Jamie Leweling in a one‑on‑one scramble.

The deadlock broke in the 25th minute when Stiller’s left‑wing cross met Chabot, whose close‑range header found the net. Leweling rattled the post from a sharp angle, and Paderborn replied before halftime, with Raphael Obermair saved by Seimen in the 41st minute.

Paderborn pushed, Stuttgart finished the job

Führich tested the keeper twice early in the second half, both shots blocked. Paderborn then grew louder, as Marvin Pieringer missed a six‑yard header from a Laurin Curda cross.

Stuttgart kept the pressure but couldn’t equalise until the 83rd minute. Stiller delivered a ball to Führich inside the box; he sidestepped his defender and thumped the ball against the underside of the crossbar, sealing the win. For my money, Führich’s finish was the decisive moment.
