Füllkrug’s Late Strike Earns Bremen Point at Dortmund

Will Füllkrug continue his scoring surge and propel Bremen into European spots?Füllkrug clinches a stoppage‑time equaliser to earn Bremen a point at Dortmund.

A last‑gasp header secured Bremen a draw in Dortmund, as Niclas Füllkrug rescued a point against his old club.

It was a strike of real significance for Füllkrug, who is arguably in the best form of his career, having now scored in four consecutive Bundesliga matches for the first time. The last Werder player to achieve such a run was Max Kruse, who also netted in four straight league games in March 2019.

It was also Füllkrug’s first goal against Dortmund, scored on his first return to the Westfalenstadion after leaving the club following the 2023/24 season. During his sole season at BVB, the striker managed 15 goals in 43 total competitive appearances in a campaign which included reaching the UEFA Champions League final. Even so, the 33-year-old was understandably delighted after glancing his header past a stranded Gregor Kobel. “I couldn’t resist celebrating. But it was a goal for Werder, not against BVB,” explained Füllkrug after the final whistle.
