Kyle Hamilton: Ravens-Steelers rivalry ‘the purest form of football you’re going to get’

Kyle Hamilton: Ravens-Steelers rivalry 'the purest form of football you're going to get'

With the division lead on the line, Hamilton said it feels like a new era has just begun in the AFC North.

“Yeah, I feel like it’s a little bit like that,” he said. “However, we have to acknowledge the good and bad things we’ve done so far. I don’t think it’s good to just forget about it, because we’ve learned so much. It would be a shame if we didn’t use it going forward, but that’s the way it is. We’ve had this conversation twice now. I guess this is our third season. … then we started. [went] 5-1. We have to finish strong and put ourselves in a position to win the Super Bowl.”

This is tied for the most recent regular season meeting between the Steelers and Ravens in which neither team is over .500 — Week 14, 1999: The 5-7 Steelers lost, 31-24, to the 5-7 Ravens in Pittsburgh.

The Ravens have won two straight in the series (including the playoffs) — a 28-14 win in the 2024 AFC Wild Card Game and a 34-17 win in Week 16, 2024. Pittsburgh had won four straight before the Ravens’ current two-game winning streak.

The rivals have played 40 one-round games since the Ravens entered the NFL in 1996, three more than the next closest rivals (Bears and Vikings, 37 such games).
