Rumors of a departure have swirled around Jets running back Breece Hall for nearly a year.
In just a few weeks, these rumblings could become reality. After completing the fourth and final year of his rookie deal, Hall is set to hit free agency in March if New York doesn’t strike a deal to keep him. With four tumultuous years behind him, Hall could also welcome change.
“You know, I don’t know,” Hall said Saturday, via the New York Post . “I’ve been dealing with it for the last six, seven months now. But right now I’m just like whatever happens, happens.”
Talks of a potential trade began over the summer when people took a look at the Jets’ roster and their low-ceiling options and realized Hall could give them a return on their investment. The silence continued all the way to the trade deadline, which passed without a deal for Hall.
Despite the uncertainty and the Jets’ struggles in every phase, Hall enjoyed the best season of his career, breaking 1,000 rushing yards for the first time while scoring four rushing touchdowns and adding 36 receptions for 350 yards and a score. Most of that went unnoticed by those who didn’t follow the Jets closely, but talent evaluators looking to add to their quarterback room certainly won’t overlook it.
