Italy crowned the European champions in front of the home crowd

Italy storm ended The European Gymnastics Championships in front of an adoring home crowd by winning their women’s title from the defending champions of England at the Fiera Rimini Stadium on Sunday (May 5).

The Italian side of Elisa Iorio, Alice D’Amato, Manila Espositoand Angela Andreoliminus the injured Asia D’Amato, who was carried off with a leg injury on the first day, secured a total score on all four apparatus with a score of 164.162.

Britain while required silver courtesy of Becky Downie – who achieved the same feat with the 2010 team – Georgia-Mae Fenton, Abi Martin, Ruby Evans and Alice Kinsella. The quintet received 162,162.

Meanwhile, the race for the final spot was between Romania and France, the hosts of the Paris 2024 Olympics starting on July 26, who came out on top with 158,796 to 156,397.
