Inside training camp: Highlights, buzz from Thursday 31 July

Patriots in New England always intended to have one newcomer to a newcomer, Will Campbell in the first round. They were able to land with two first -year players starting in front of Drake Maye.

Val Jared Wilson in the third round is to reach the booth early in the camp. Georgia product has the chance to beat Cole Strange’s third -year professional for the left guard.

“Jared is a great athlete and he plays all three (positions) in the middle,” said the second year of O-Lineman Caedan Wallace through the Boston Herald. “He knows everything. … Jared is really, really (explosive) good, so I love to ask him questions. He always has a different perspective than the veterinarian in the room.”

Wilson turned heads into one-on-man exercises in the camp and reportedly got the best of both Christian Barmore and Milton Williams.

“He will be a reliable player,” Williams said of the young line. “He’s good. He has a good balance for such a young player. The future is bright for him.”

Wilson has blasted both left -wing guard and center in pushing the starting point and impressing teammates and coaches with his versatility and smarts.

“I think he is a quick student,” said Mike Vrabel coach last Friday. “He has been able to learn two positions inside, as far as center and guard. I would say he was one of those players who may not have been as much on the field in the spring, but could actually realize it mentally and allow it to be given the opportunity to be on the field.

When Patriots tries to tease an offensive line that was abnormal a year ago, we monitor Wilson’s progress on the front page. If he can play a initial role, it would be a great blessing for Maye and Patriots’ Run Game.
