Giants GM Joe Schoen expects ‘big things’ from Kayvon Thibodeaux in 2026 despite trade talk

Giants GM Joe Schoen expects 'big things' from Kayvon Thibodeaux in 2026 despite trade talk

The trade talk surrounding New York Giants cornerback Kayvon Thibodeaux continues to be a hot topic.

The former first-round pick appeared to be gone from New York after the Giants selected Abdul Carter with the third overall pick last year. With Big Blue also having Brian Burns under a long-term deal, paying Thibodeaux big seems like a no-brainer.

The Giants opted to hang on to the runner at last year’s trade deadline. Thibodeaux is now entering the fifth year of his $14.751 million rookie contract. If New York is going to trade him, his value will not be higher.

General manager Joe Schoen was asked this week at the NFL Scouting Combine about Thibodeaux’s future in New York.

“Right now, Kayvon is going to be with us,” Schoen said, via ESPN. “He played well. He’s going into his fifth year and he’s motivated and you can’t get enough pass rushes. You really can’t. So I’m proud of Kayvon’s development and maturity and he’s come a long way. And I expect big things from him next year with this rotation.”
