Although the initial focus may have been on the team manager who was not seen on the opening day of Atlanta Falcons in OTA – Kirk Cousins - the new starting team went quietly on their business.
Michael Penix Jr. is a clear QB1 after spending the last season as a newcomer to backup and learned the rope. Coach Raheem Morris said Penix was “finding his voice” as a leader early in Offseason.
“When you take on that team manager, there is a certain humility to play the situation,” Morris said on Tuesday through the Associated Press. “Then, it (comes) certain confidence in playing the situation. In the end, it turns into a little bit of arrogance to play the situation as it’s not negotiable. We are not there.
Penix sat most of his newcomer season behind kinsmen before the Falcons went into the Elder’s fight. The journey cleaned a way for Penix to take the lead in the year 2. This 25 -year -old QB said he was “excited” to take on that leadership role.
“The one I want to point out (to) is just connecting with the boys,” said Penix. “I feel like I have done much better to connect with everyone around the team. Not just offensive boys but defending boys too. Whether it’s right around the facility to eat lunch or go out and play golf with some of them. Don’t ask about my golf game.”
