Eagles HC Nick Sirianni wants to continue ‘developing as offense’

Eagles HC Nick Sirianni wants to continue 'developing as offense'

The future of wide receiver AJ Brown is also uncertain. The talented but star-crossed wide receiver has had a rough time in Philadelphia, including his relationship with quarterback Jalen Hurts. Brown had arguably his worst season since arriving in Philadelphia and was guilty of two dropped passes in the Eagles’ Wild Card Weekend loss to the 49ers on Sunday, catching just three passes for 25 yards.

When asked if Brown remains in the Eagles’ plans going forward, Roseman was noncommittal while praising the expansion.

“Yeah, we talked about it at the trade deadline the last time I spoke,” Roseman said. “It’s hard to find great players in the NFL, and AJ is a great player. I think from my perspective that’s what we’re going out and looking for. When we go out here in free agency and in the draft, (it’s) trying to find great players who love football, and he’s that guy. So, that would be my answer.”

One year removed from the Super Bowl MVP award, Hurts probably isn’t going anywhere. Sirianni said everyone — not just Patullo — shares responsibility for the Eagles’ offensive back swing this season, including Hurts, even as he threw his support behind his quarterback.

“We all had a hand this year – good, bad, you name it,” Sirianni said. “… But again, I love Jalen Hurts. I love everything he brings to the table. Every time you step on the court, you feel really good that you can win any game you’re going to play when you have him at quarterback.

“And he’s shown this organization, myself, Howie and the city that he’s a winner. He’s capable of doing a lot of different things at a very high level. But again, whether it was winning the game or whether it was us not playing by our offensive performance, we all had a hand in it.”

Roseman also made sure to back up Hurts after a season in which more questions were being asked about his play on the offensive end.

“What (Sirianni) said, we’ve won a lot of games with Jalen as our quarterback,” Roseman said. “We’ve won a World Series with him and as MVP in that game. I think he’s done a great job as our starting point guard.”

Whoever the Eagles choose to be the offensive coordinator will likely know they’ll be tasked with building an offense around Hurts’ talent, even if other elements of the offense aren’t guaranteed again.
