Eagles DT Jordan Davis agrees to three-year, $78 million contract extension

Eagles DT Jordan Davis agrees to three-year, $78 million contract extension

It’s a monster deal for a defensive lineman who has worked hard since joining the Eagles as the No. 13 overall pick in 2022.

Davis, a game-changer in his rookie campaign, has started 17 games in each of the last three seasons and helped the team to two top-five finishes in points allowed during that span. He’s strong against the run — with a 71.6 PFF run defense rating, 11th among interior defenders — but also possesses a scary dose of speed for a 6-foot-6, 336-pounder.

Davis has 162 tackles over four seasons, with 15 tackles for loss, 12 quarterbacks, 10 passes defensed and eight sacks. He recorded two more postseason sacks during the Eagles’ run to the Lombardi Trophy in the 2024 campaign, one in the NFC Championship Game and another in Super Bowl LIX.

By extending Davis, Philly has taken the first step in securing the dreaded duo inside. Davis’ partner in the trenches, Jalen Carter, is eligible for an extension but could also see his fifth-year rookie option picked up this offseason, similar to how Davis left before cashing in a year later.

That’s a checklist for another day though.

For now, Davis is locked in as the Eagles try to return to the mountaintop after being ousted in the 2025 season.
