We can look at week 1 as peripheral in most periods. The change from year to year for each team is so radical and the new wrinkles that are not put on the coil can be difficult to control in the game.
Sunday Stroud and Texans violation could not stabbed Stingy Rams defense. Houston only went 2-of-9 on the third floor and settled in three goals in the first half. In the last two quarters, Texans managed only 121 total net meters, turned it twice – including final ownership – and put the geese egg in the stage column.
Houston came in and missed the recipient of Christian Kirk and guard Ed Ingram to open the race. Then the offensive line dealt with injuries in the game that came up when the dubious unit.
“Injury happens,” said Demeco Ryans, Texans head coach. “Guys go down all the time. We don’t sit? Do we have the ball away and go home? We compete. It doesn’t matter who’s out there. … we don’t complain. We don’t make excuses for it.”
Texans’ defense kept them in the game, but the offense couldn’t do enough to change the outcome.
“It’s not easy, (but) it’s something, just, what are you going to do, complain about it?” Stroud asked. “Are you going to lie down, or are you going to play? For me, I just try to go and compete as best as I can and show these guys, I don’t care who is in there. I trust you. I try to play as much as I can to show them that I am there for them.”
With the home grounding of Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the tap for week 2, we will see if Sunday’s production has been blip or signs that even with a change in quarters, Texans in another season are struggling for violations.
