The Chargers have noticed growth since their previous sixth-round pick.
“That’s a high-level competitor, a never-give-up mentality,” Harbaugh said of Vidal. “Oh, I didn’t do it, they got it back, they didn’t keep me at 53. I think his mentality was good, it makes me work harder, practice harder and listen more.
“He’s very good at all these things, but you can see it growing. Don’t hesitate and work to get better every day. Better today than yesterday, better tomorrow than today. There was never a word said by him, he said it all with what he did.”
On Sunday against the AFC-leading Indianapolis Colts, Vidal will get another shot to prove he can lead the way again in LA. The quarterback knows he can’t dwell on last week’s impressive performance.
“I try not to focus on it. It takes what it takes all week,” Vidal said. “Work, keep trying to get better, work on what I need to correct, correct those things and move on. That game is over, it’s in the past and focus on the Colts.”
The Colts are 13th in rushing yards allowed (578) and 15th in yards per carry (4.3) through six games.
