NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported over the weekend that Loomis spoke with Kamara after receiving trade calls about the former Pro Bowl running back. According to Rapoport, the 30-year-old reiterated to the GM that he wants to stay in New Orleans.
“Yeah, I don’t know where it is [came from]. We talked about [the report] and we looked at each other like little Spider-Man, ‘Did you say something? Did I say something?'” Kamara said of the report. “I don’t know where it came from, but I think I was loud enough that … I don’t want to go anywhere. And I said that countless times, you know that. I think everybody knows that. The fan base knows that. And at the end of the day, it’s a business. So I don’t go up, and I don’t have an office upstairs. I got an office in Charlotte in NASCAR, but I don’t have an office upstairs, so I don’t really sit in this meetings and I really don’t know what happens up there.”
Given the rebuilding status of the 1-5 Saints, it’s natural for clubs to poke around and see what veterans might be available. If they are looking for a quarterback, however, those teams will have to look elsewhere.
