The 2023 NFL Draft No. 1 overall pick shouldn’t expect a warm welcome against a Micah Parsons-led Packers defense (sixth in yards allowed; 10i.e in points), but his return is great timing for Carolina.
Filling in for Young, veteran quarterback Andy Dalton played through the Bills’ loss with a broken thumb, prompting the Panthers to add Mike White to the active roster. Dalton is officially questionable after limited practices Thursday and Friday.
Now in his third pro season and second under head coach Dave Canales, Young is coming off his best season yet. He is 4-3 as a starter, tying his career high with wins already. He has completed 138 of 224 passes (career-best 61.6%) for 1,288 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions.
The returning Young and the Panthers (4-4) open against the host Packers (5-1-1) at 1:00 PM ET.
