Harvey got off to a slow start in his rookie campaign, with JK Dobbins taking the majority of the reps. Through the first 10 games, Harvey had five or fewer carries seven times. After Dobbins’ season-ending injury, the rookie took on a bigger role and created some big plays, but was largely inconsistent, averaging 3.4 yards per attempt over the last seven games and 3.0 YPC in two postseason deficits.
Denver’s re-signing of Dobbins and fourth-round draft pick Jonah Coleman underscored the Broncos’ desire to continue with a committee approach. Harvey could play a bigger role as a Joker-type pass rusher in Sean Payton’s offense. Watching film on dual threats like CMC, Gibbs and Super Bowl MVP Walker could help the second-year pro carve out a bigger role if he can translate the film into production.
