Broncos' JK Dobbins to be 'No. 1' running back in 2026: 'There will be no injuries'

Another year, another injury derailed 2025 JK Dobbins.

The Denver Broncos’ lightning back got off to a great start, passing for 772 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games before a foot injury sidelined him. After re-signing with Denver this summer, Dobbins is out to prove that his start to last year was a fluke.

“What I’m going to show is that last year wasn’t a fluke. Like, instead of being the No. 3 in the NFL, I’m going to be the No. 1 this year. And there’s not going to be any injuries,” Dobbins said, via Luca Evans of The Denver Post .

Technically, Dobbins was fifth in the NFL when the injury occurred, but the case remains. There’s no questioning the slashing runner’s ability when he’s on the field. He has averaged 5.2 yards per carry in his career, knows how to use blockers well and has the speed to turn short gains into chunks. However, he hasn’t been able to stay healthy since suffering a gruesome knee injury during the 2021 preseason with the Ravens, which forced him to miss the entire season.

Dobbins finally found some continuity in 2024 with the Chargers, but again missed four games deep into the season. Since last year, he could not finish away from home. As Bill Parcells was fond of saying, sometimes a player’s greatest talent is being there. Dobbins is still fighting that battle into his 7th year.
