Sean Payton’s Broncos completed the first leg of their AFC West winning streak by defeating the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day. Thanks to the loss of Los Angeles to take care of the rest, Denver has now secured its first division title since 2015.
The Chiefs had won the last nine AFC West titles, but their streak officially ended three weeks ago, and it was Denver’s turn to take the crown.
Payton, who has turned the club around since taking over in 2023, has won his first division title since leading the New Orleans Saints to the NFC South crown in 2020.
Denver (13-3) has won 12 of its last 13 games and sits atop the AFC with a chance to clinch the top seed in the conference and the bye game that comes with it on Sunday if the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars lose on Sunday.
