Lions CB Terrion Arnold arrested on eight felonies that carry a life sentence

Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold has been arrested in connection with a February robbery and kidnapping in Tampa, Fla., the Hillsborough County District Attorney’s Office announced late Wednesday night.

Arnold, 23, turned himself in at the Orient Road Jail (Fla.) on Wednesday and faces a total of eight counts of robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon and four counts of kidnapping, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office told NFL.com. Arnold is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday at 1:30 p.m. ET, according to the sheriff’s office.

The charges carry a potential sentence of life in prison, according to a statement from the attorney general’s office, which added that a motion for remand will be filed to argue that Arnold should remain in custody pending his trial.

“Terrion Arnold categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations against him and maintains his innocence,” said a statement obtained by NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero from Arnold’s representative, EAG Sports Management CEO Denise White. “There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations. Instead, the government appears to be relying on the testimony of multiple convicted felons who have admitted their involvement and may have significant incentives to plead guilty in an effort to reduce their sentences.

“Mr. Arnold looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the legal process will lead to his ultimate vindication.”

The February incident was a kidnapping and robbery, which The Athletic reported was in retaliation for a robbery at the Lions defensive lineman’s residence in Florida, which Arnold was linked to and subsequently denied.

The Attorney General said Arnold’s “confidants” were also “behind bars.”

Tampa’s 13th Judicial District Attorney Suzy Lopez posted comments on social media regarding Arnold’s arrest.

“No one has the right to take the law into their own hands,” Lopez wrote. “A dispute over lost property does not justify kidnapping, violence or retaliation. We will continue to pursue justice for the three victims by holding everyone accountable for their role in this crime.”

The NFL and Lions also released a statement to NFL.com.

“We are aware of the issue and have been in contact with the club,” says the league’s statement. “We have no further comment at this time.”

“We are aware of the legal situation regarding Terrion Arnold,” the Lions said. “We will not comment at this time out of respect for the ongoing legal process.”

Arnold is a native of Tallahassee, Fla., who played in college at Alabama. Detroit selected Arnold in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft with the 24th overall pick.

In two seasons, he has played in 24 games with 22 starts, compiling 91 tackles, 10 passes defensed and one interception. Arnold played just eight games in the 2025 season as he was sidelined with a concussion and twice with a shoulder injury, the second time leading to season-ending surgery.
