When the NFL welcomes Madrid for the league’s second trip to Spain, it will do so with an array of young talent on the marquee, with Bijan Robinson and the Falcons taking on Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and the Bengals.
A season ago, the NFL landed in Spain when the Miami Dolphins defeated the Washington Commanders, 16-13. Although he struggled with the win, Tua Tagovailoa could have a chance to go 2-0 in Madrid as he looks to battle this summer for the starting spot in Atlanta with Michael Penix.
However, Robinson has emerged as the face of the Falcons and one of the top talents in the NFL. After his first season and career 2,298 rushing yards, Robinson will aim to return Atlanta to the spotlight after an 8-9 campaign in 2025 – the club’s eighth straight losing game.
Meanwhile, new Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski offers an offense that features Robinson, wide receiver Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts, Zac Taylor and Cincinnati against Burrow, five-time Pro Bowler Chase and teammates with wide receiver Tee Higgins.
Like the Falcons, the Bengals are looking to rebound, after going 6-11 last season and missing the postseason for the third straight year.
The star-studded union is also a rare matchup as Burrow and Chase have played the Falcons just once in their careers (a Week 7 win in 2022 in which Burrow threw for 481 yards with two of the three TDs going to Chase).
Robinson, however, will play against the Bengals — who had the 25th-ranked defense last season — for the first time in his already impressive career.
