The Falcons pushed Tagovailoa this offseason to push for the starting gig. The former Dolphin was expected to get the most work in Kevin Stefanski’s offense this offseason as Penix continued his rehab. Maybe we’ll get a fight sooner than expected.
The third-year pro has been adamant he will be ready for Week 1, but the club has conspicuously avoided putting such a timetable on his return. Penix’s participation in Phase 2 is a good indication that, at the very least, the QB is on the right track in his recovery. The sooner he gets full practice this summer, the sooner a full-fledged QB competition can begin in the ATL.
