When Rueben Bain Jr. fell to the 15th overall pick, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a run at the pick to add a powerful pass rusher.
It’s not just the front office or coaching staff that is giddy to add a self-proclaimed Mike Tyson-style edge. His new teammates were thrilled with his addition to the defense.
In an interview with Kay Adams on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams” this week, Bucs running back YaYa Diaby said he was surprised Bain was still on the board with the club that was selected, because in his mind the Miami product was the top pick in the draft.
“Just for the moment on him – he’s hungry,” Diaby said of his first meeting with the rookie. “And he got this mad, crazy, crazy look like he was ready to go after it. As you can see, from the walk that he took, he picked up his hat and just went straight to the stage. You could tell how hungry he is, how ready he is. Honestly, the whole run, the whole wing, he was the best in my eyes. I’m just so happy to have him join us.”
Diaby said he could tell Bain was angry about his relegation but believes he has found himself in an ideal situation for both the team and the player.
