After a respectable stint in Indianapolis — where the Colts cycled through quarterbacks for most of Pittman’s time there — Pittman is understandably excited about the opportunity to play for McCarthy.
“(Mike McCarthy) just talked about diversifying because obviously in Indy, my role in Indy was more than short, stoppage. I always felt like every single game I was like, ‘I can do more,'” Pittman told Adams. “I would leave games frustrated because I always felt like I had more to offer the team. Just kind of going over it with (McCarthy) and telling him everything I can do and he sort of saw and expanded my role and my path tree back to what it was maybe in Year 2 or 3. I’m really just looking forward to it. I don’t want to give away some secret sauce to exercise.”
With Metcalf and Pittman in the lineup, McCarthy will have more tools to utilize. Eventually, he could also welcome whoever is in charge of throwing passes to them as well, a familiar face McCarthy knows well from their 13 seasons together in Green Bay.
Pittman, meanwhile, is just ready to play for his new team.
“Like I said, I would love to have Aaron back,” Pittman said. “But honestly, whoever the Steelers pick is the perfect quarterback for me. What I’m looking for is just a quarterback to throw me the football, so I’m pretty easy when it comes to that.”
