Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. on tough sophomore season: Adversity 'gives you a lot to grow from'

As the Jacksonville Jaguars surged toward an optimistic new frontier in 2025, one key player — receiver Brian Thomas Jr. – much of the happy, transitional period in the shadows.

A true freshman, Thomas endured a number of challenges in his sophomore season. He struggled to be consistent, developed a tendency to drop passes, battled ankle injuries and finished with nearly 600 fewer yards than his memorable debut, which saw him catch 87 passes for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns. Thomas made just three visits to the end zone in 2025 (two receptions, one rushing) and ended up as a secondary character in Jacksonville’s exciting history.

“It was just adversity, [which] gives you a lot to grow from,” Thomas said, via ESPN. “I wouldn’t call it frustrating. I mean, it just gives you something to build off of. You know what you have to do and you know what you have to do to sustain [success].”

It happens. Many players find it difficult to repeat their first success every year. But if the Jaguars are going to realize their full potential, they know Thomas will have to play an important role.
