Broncos vs. Chiefs: Two storylines you need to know ahead of Christmas Day showdown

Broncos vs. Chiefs: Two storylines you need to know ahead of Christmas Day showdown

2) Is this Kelce’s last home game for the Chiefs?

Speculation about Travis Kelce’s NFL future beyond this season began before the 2025 campaign began, and talk that Thursday could be his last home game for a while has only grown louder as the Chiefs’ season has fallen apart. Head coach Andy Reid has been tight-lipped on the matter, saying he doesn’t know Kelce’s plans, instead choosing to say his tight end is “a great person” and “everything you want from a player who represents the organization.” Even with a reduced target share from past seasons, Kelce leads the Chiefs in catches and receiving yards and is tied for the team lead with five TD catches. Chris Oladokun was thrown into a tough spot last week when Gardner Minshew went down with a knee injury and completed 11 of 16 passes for 111 yards on 31 carries against the Titans. The Chiefs lost, but Oladokun did well. Kelce got his lone chance last week from Oladokun after Minshew went 0 for 3 with a walk in Kelce’s direction. Whether or not this is Kelce’s last game on GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, he may have to be busy against the Broncos, with Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thorntonon on the injury report and their status unclear on Christmas Day. And one way or another, count on the group to give its biggest remaining star a standing ovation after 13 great seasons in Kansas City.
