Report: The big man previously linked to thermal tag deal with the Turkish team

Heat Insider says the team will not go further in the luxury tax for Kai Jones

Over the past month or so, former Charlotte Hornets midfielder Kai Jones bounced around a lot of stories that connect him to the Miami Heat. It was reported in August that Jones worked for the Heat, though five reasons why Greg Sylvander later claimed that the team would not go to the luxury tax to add him.

Sylvander colleague for five reasons for sports, Ethan J. Skolnick, also announced last month that the temperature does not appear in any rush to bring Jones or others big for that matter. Fast forward to Monday and Jones have chosen to take his talents abroad, where he has agreed to have a deal with Anadolu Ephes in Euroleague.

Jones joins the Turkish basketball team in a one-year contract after registering 40 merged games with Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks in the normal period 2024-25. He averaged 5.0 points and 3.1 rebounds per game at 79.8 percent of the floor in the third NBA season.

With Jones of the open market, the temperature will have to pursue other options if they want to add another big man to the roster before the new period began. Precious Achiuwa is one center that Miami has been linked recently and is among the remaining players in the market.

Al Horford, champion NBA, is the technically best center available, but it seems to be a matter of when rather than if he will sign with the Golden State Warriors this season.

Even though Hagord wanted to sign Miami, the temperature does not have enough space to sign 15. A player with a regular contract and be under the luxury tax. They would have to wait until December to sign a player and stay under the tax unless they go for another free space.

All in all, with the financial situation of Miami looks like the 2025-26 campaign, it is certainly not shocking that the heat did not sign Jones and he left the NBA for the opportunity to play the sport abroad. With all luck, Jones will sharpen his game and play basketball internationally and play at the highest level again at some point.
