Las Vegas Raiders went through another number of large -scale organizational changes this season, changed coaches, GM and the starting team. The goal is a quick turnaround, returns to the season for the first time in four seasons and won the playoff game for the first time since 2002.
To offset this turnaround, coach Pete Carroll and GM John Spytek have renovated the roster, brought a ceasefire in defense, have traded trading with team manager Geno Smith and made Ashton Jeanty again as the motorcycle.
The passage has changed the culture of the house, but the expectations of outsiders remain low. The Raiders are still expected to finish, but most will finish fourth in the hard AFC west.
Smith participated in “Inside Training Camp Live” NFL Network on Monday, saying he was OK to doubt.
“I’m always the guy that I think the game will take place between the white lines on the day,” Smith said. “But from my point of view we have a really good, really good team. I don’t know if we will shrink anyone inside this building, but maybe shocked a few outsiders. But it’s good, like letting them sleep. I don’t want them to see us.
Smith’s game will be a key factor in all turnaround in Vegas. That elder has shown the ability to play under pressure, but must reduce the transition of the red area that plagued him a year ago in Seattle.
There are still holes in the roster, including questions about young reception estates – except for Jakobi Meyers – and in college. Carroll & Co. moved a number of ceasefire days to change the culture, but whether the raiders can certainly turn things around in the first year will have a lot to do with how much production of coaches can coax from a group of newcomers and young players who could play key roles.
