Jacksonville Jaguars bipartisan novice Travis Hunter will not play in both ways in one OTA practice this spring. Instead, Jags will spin no. 2 Total choice between violations and defense.
Coach Liam Coen said on Tuesday that Hunter will still be in both meeting rooms.
“We will not put him in those situations to let him do it, even though I am sure he would probably like,” Coen said through the official website. “He still meets defensively every day he is in the offensive, so he is getting a spiritual part of it and is able to reach some communication, some of the corrections of the film from the defense side of the ball. He is getting a lot of spiritual and it would probably be unfair to put him out on the grass and do it.
Hunter is the first player in generations to organize playing both sides of the ball full -time. As such, Jag’s employees are smart not to grind a newcomer too soon. Coen finally said that in the usual season, Hunter will probably practice both ways.
“During the season, he will probably need to, just because it’s how practices are organized,” Coen said. “He will definitely have to do it. I may see a third day in a season where he is playing the receiver, but he will also have to get some representatives in defense and can do some of these things. It will come up, absolutely.
“Just from teaching and its early stages, it is not really that it is something we will do at any time, mentally.”
