Maignan is set to sit out at least one Europa League fixture. Will Milan feel his loss?
MilanNews24 reports the keeper will definitely miss the club’s upcoming European game, and UEFA could extend the suspension if they deem the act violent conduct.
The dismissal came in the 27th minute when, during a Bournemouth corner, Maignan thrust his hand into Tyler Adams’ face instead of the ball. VAR confirmed a straight red, and Marcus Tavernier slotted the penalty to make it 2‑0.
Amorim had to pull Omari Hutchinson and hand the gloves to youngster Lorenzo Torriani. In my view, that substitution was a risky gamble.
Maignan cleared for Serie A and the derby
UEFA bans apply only to its competitions, so Maignan remains eligible for Serie A matches, including the Udinese trip on Sunday and the Inter derby on Oct. 31.
He will miss Ferencváros’ visit to San Siro on Nov. 5, and a longer sanction could also keep him out of the Olympiacos clash on Nov. 26.
