Titans OC Brian Daboll on No. 4 overall pick WR Carnell Tate: 'He's got to come here and earn it all'

The Tennessee Titans were one of the NFL teams that had a surprise pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

With a new defensive-minded head coach in Robert Saleh, many in their mock draft had the Titans adding a defensive lineman. However, the Titans chose to select Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate with the No. 4 overall pick.

Despite Tate being the top pick in the draft, Titans offensive coordinator Brian Daboll is letting it be known that Tate will have to work hard, even in rookie minicamp, to be a Year 1 contributor.

“The choices in the draft, [Carnell] Tate was a good player for us in our management,” Daboll told reporters Saturday. “Again, he’s got to come in here and earn everything. But he’s got good skills. He could do a lot of things, compete for catches, run routes, very smart. So we were happy to get him with the other picks and free agents we got.”
