The NFL placed Houston Texans security Jimmie Ward on the exemption list of reserve/managing director on Tuesday.
Ward was arrested in August for crime stories in Texas following a June arrest, also in Texas, for saying an attack and threatening a woman.
Ward, 34, is not allowed to attend Texans practices and games while on the list of the sheriff.
The Secretary General is a special player position that is only available to clubs in “unusual circumstances” according to the definition of the department. The time on the list is undefined and determined by the Secretary General of Roger Goodell.
Ward, who is dealing with leg injuries, has not practiced with the team in training camp as he was played physically unable to perform a list.
Ward spent nine seasons with Niners and played the last two with Texans.
He had 48 tackles and two interceptions in 10 games, all starts, with Houston last season.
