The following Offseason joined Gardner-Johnson with Detroit Lions in a one-year contract. He suffered a knee injury that was not in contact with a training camp and was carried off the field. He won it and was offered to play at the beginning of the season, but then suffered grated breast injury on week 2.
Gardner -Johnson returned to Philly in a three -year contract at Offseason 2024. He started in every game – play -games included – for Philly on the way to the other Super Bowl title.
Now he will start a new chapter on his NFL trip to Houston. “I mean, you guys played a lot of good balls here, but I don’t think they understand what it means to work when it matters,” he said. “I’m not talking about the team with the team. I’m just saying that I was in a great situation where I have to work when it matters and I’ve been in games where I had to step up.
“For me, a championship title means more to me than just winning a football game now because I get older. I’m playing with lots of younger guys who understand like yes, the money is here, but it’s more about when you can win and get a championship title, do you know?”
Gardner-Johnson will be given the opportunity to prove that Eagles has made the wrong decision.
Philadelphia also lost several key players in the free agency this season. Mekhi Becton, Josh Sweat and Milton Williams signed larger offers elsewhere, but Eagles prioritized by giving a contractual extension to operate Saquon Barkley, line baker Zack bean and abusive tackle Johnson. “It’s not about money,” said Gardner-Johnson. “If this was about money, then everyone would have disappeared. How can I say this?

At the NFL’s annual faculty meeting in April, Roseman explained why Philly sent CJGJ to Houston. Eagles GM said there would have to be a balance between holding and signing players in a free agency and building through the draft. Gardner-Johnson did not fall into Philly’s long-term plans.
Gardner-Johnson employee once again did not defend for a period in his second stage with Eagles, but now he will have the opportunity to pursue Super Bowl with Texans, who have not yet lifted Lombardi Cup.
