The NFL is like picking up a new gift every week. You simply never know what you could find inside.
Since 1990 (35 consecutive seasons), at least four teams have competed in the playoff games every season that was not in the last year – last year brought us Vikings, commanders, chargers and Broncos.
Making the finals is usually just the start of turnover. Although last year there was an deviation, with all eight winners of the league playing ahead of the season, in 53 out of 55 campaigns since the AFL-NFL merger 1970, won at least one team of their league during the season after missing out on the playoff games. And since the 1970 merger, at least one team has improved the victory as a whole since the previous period of four or more wins each season except the strike -controlled period 1982 (usually the season was only nine games in 1982).
In 23 periods since Realignment in 2002, 31 out of 32 NFL teams have won the league title at least once – The Browns (1989) are the only team without a league title since 2002 (apologies for Cleveland loyalty).
In September, there is always unrestrained positivity. We will see which clubs keep them Christmas-like inflammation in December.
